Pore strips are also more commonly known as nose strips since that is where they are mostly used. Pore strips or nose strips are used to cure the most prevalent problem amongst teenagers and other people across various ages, the blackheads! Before we move on to the how’s and where’s let us make ourselves familiar with some of the common terms related to pore strips. Now that we know that pore strips are used predominantly for blackheads, it is essential that we know the basics about blackheads. Blackheads are nothing but dirt, dust, oil and sebum accumulated within the widened pores of the hair follicles on the surface of the skin.

Now, coming to the scientific part of pore strips, they are nothing but narrow strips of a certain material designed to stick on to the surface of the skin once placed and pressed firmly. Also, it sticks only once so it is better to spot the right location and then place it over there. Once stuck and you try to remove it immediately, it loses both its sticker effect and the stripping effect. One might wonder what all this sticking and stripping is for. Simply put, pore strips or nose strips effectively rip off the blackheads formed on the nose edge and nose bridge.

There are several products available on the market to assist people in removing blackheads like face scrub, face wash, peel off masks and facial treatments. Nevertheless, in spite of all this available, only pore strips have so far proven to be effective in blackheads removal. This is because scrubs and face washes have to be used twice day in and day out, everyday. But, this is not the case with nose strips. It is enough if they are used monthly or bimonthly, depending on the condition of the patient or the afflicted person.

Why Pore strips are the most effective?

Pore strips are essentially meant for deep cleansing of the skin. In just one use, they instantly get rid off all the blackheads and the whiteheads clustered along the edges and bridge of the nose. This is done by lifting away the dirt from the deepest of the hair follicles which in due course of time have widened and become house for all the dirt, dust, sebum and oil which eagerly try to settle down in these pores. Pore strips are effective pore cleansers in the way they rip of the pore clogging built up on the surface of the skin.

Now, the functioning of pore strips involves two stages of cleaning. Firstly, the pore strips secrete a mild chemical which forces its way through the thickly clogged pores and flushes all the dirt and oil out. This effectively leaves the pores ultra clean and free. Next, it shrinks the holes such that they get back to the normal size that they previously were before being triggered and enlarged by puberty hormonal imbalance.

One important thing that you need to understand is that the effectiveness of pore strips varies from person to person depending on their skin type. It is known that they are not nearly as effective on people with oily skin when compared to ones with dry skin. Moreover, they cannot actually prevent blackheads; they can only rid our skin off these problems after they occur. They also help reduce marks on the face by wiping the black color of the blackheads.

Lastly, it is also seen that pore strips can be used not only for blackheads on the nose, but to effectively remove any dirt or oil clogged or accumulated on a surface of the skin. But at the same time, caution should be taken to make sure that it is not used in sensitive areas like eyes, ears and other areas where the skin is tender.
